Ammie Dover tapped as celebrity bowler for the 7th Annual Bowlapalooza
Ammie Dover, founder of Larek Point Consulting, will lace up her bowling shoes as a celebrity bowler for the 7th Annual Savannah AMBUCS/Vaden Chevrolet Bowlapalooza October 13th.
Savannah AMBUCS, a nonprofit group that aims to inspire differently abled people to be mobile and independent, pioneered a bowling league for special needs
children and adults called the AMBUCS Exceptional Bowling League (also known as ABLED) in the late 1950s. Since then, Bowlapalooza has become the hallmark fundraising event in which dozens of well-known people in the community — from business owners to television news anchors — bowl with people of different abilities, raising money for special needs programs and causes along the way.
Each celebrity bowler is asked to raise a minimum of $3,500 over several months of fundraising with the culminating Bowlapalooza event scheduled for October 13. The kickoff event and auction is from 6-10 p.m. July 19 at The Plantation Club in The Landings. During the kickoff event, a specially adapted three-wheel bike called Amtryke will be given away, and attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exciting items in silent and live auctions — including trips, art from local artists, jewelry, dinner packages, scavenger hunts, game tickets, and more.
Last year’s Bowlapalooza raised more than $95,000 for scholarships and Amtrykes, tricycles for differently abled people.
This year, AMBUCS is raising money for:
- scholarships for students studying physical, occupational and speech therapies in Georgia, the University of South Carolina and Armstrong State;
- the continued support of the ABLED bowling league, which has 85 adults bowling every Saturday from September through May;
- and Amtrykes, tricycles for differently abled children and adults.
Ammie has a passion for helping others and improving the community. Help her reach her fundraising goal by donating here. For more information, please see the AMBUCS website and the event page.
