BUILDING YOUR TEAM

building your teamAre you overworked and overwhelmed? Are you no closer to meeting your year-end goals than the day you set them? Perhaps now is the time to look at managing the back-end of your business so that you can grow the front-end. Building your team is a crucial element to consider.

Have you looked at your schedule and thought… I don’t have time to create a new process. When am I supposed to find time to write blog articles? The answer is simple. Start delegating. For those one person companies, you may be wondering “who am I supposed to delegate to? I can’t afford to hire anyone.” This is the biggest fallacy of small businesses. The truth is you can’t afford not to hire someone. I agree that most small businesses cannot afford to hire a full time employee. However, there are many service providers that will operate with pay as you go relationships.

There are consultants, freelancers and websites that cater to providing work on an as needed basis and are happy to work on small jobs. Don’t allow yourself to get so consumed with servicing the clients that you get too busy to run the business. The business will not grow unless you dedicate the time to growing it. If you spend the time now delegating to a few trusted helpers, I promise you, the growth results will appear.

Call to Action: Write a list of all the things you wish you had the time to accomplish. Then, quantify those actions with the amount of revenue they would bring in. Now, do your research and find out how much it would cost you to outsource those tasks. If the potential revenue is greater than the cost, get started interviewing your new team.
